We are having a Board meeting on Friday afternoon to consider our strategy. I will let you know any decisions.
Face to face meetings for large groups like U3A may be among the last to get the green light.

Reading

What we read in March 2020

With our lives blighted by the Corona Virus, and Easter coming up, I have found myself very reliant on e-books, both Kindle and Libby.
However I have also been amazed at the service still offered at the Campbelltown Library as holds have come in.
Check out their Click and Collect service.

Anyway here are the books we've read

Despite being home-bound, except for some walks with my sister and also some others with a close friend along linear park( observing appropriate distancing) and infrequent trips to the shops for essentials and fresh produce, I have done little crime reading.
Read the daily paper and do all the crosswords, continue gardening and watch tv.
I am also in the process of reorganising photos from my 2019 holiday into piccolages to create some books- slow process. Have also sorted out the cupboards in 2 bedrooms- decluttering and dispatching unnecessary, but good condition items to charity.
Borrowed 2 books from Campbelltown Library (before closure) and downloaded the Library SA app.
I started reading one of the books- “THE BOY AT THE DOOR” by Alex  Dahl, an American/ Norwegian author.
However gave up after the first few chapters- I did not enjoy her style of writing, despite the book being ( reportedly) a best seller.
I also borrowed Anne Holt’s  book “IN DUST AND ASHES” because you recommended one of her books in the U3aC session I attended with you before your trip. I have not yet started to read it.
I am currently reading “THE CAVEMAN” by Jorn Lier Horst, but am only up to page 65!!!
So slow going and have decided I really must set aside more time for reading

My brother and sister-in-law who live in the UK were caught in Sydney. Original flight via Hong Kong was cancelled. Second flight via KL was cancelled. They were lucky to get a third flight via Singapore and are now back home in isolation like you.
March has been such a weird month.
I was given some good non-fiction to read and have concentrated mostly on that.

Fiction-wise, I’ve read:

Agatha Christie - A CARIBBEAN MYSTERY
Agatha Christie - MURDER IS EASY.

As of a few days ago, libraries had a ‘click and collect’ service but I'm not sure if that is still going. Otherwise, as you say, it’s e-books or whatever is on your own shelves unread.

At the moment, libraries are saying they would prefer it if you didn’t return books to them!
